1. Course Materials FAQs

Answers to questions about course materials including textbooks, custom courseware, i>clickers, Access Codes and Aplia.

2. I am a student / faculty /staff member. Do I get a discount?

The same price applies to everyone and we do our best to keep prices as low as possible. We source course materials in a variety formats in an attempt to offer lower cost options. We also work closely with faculty members to offer open educational resources and custom printed publications. Each term we identify textbook titles that are entered into our Guaranteed Buyback program. When shopping in the store be on the lookout for our Guaranteed Buyback signs. If your book has been identified for the program, then we’ll buy it back at the end of term – guaranteed! – at the price listed on the tag.

3. I have night class. Why aren’t you open later?

We do our best to match our hours to student demand. What we have found is while there are a few students who prefer to visit the store late there was not enough traffic to justify the cost of staffing the store for the extra hours. The store is generally open so that students can pick up their books before night class and we offer extended hours during Rush periods.

4. Is there a Post Office on campus?

Books of stamps (domestic, US and international) are available for purchase at the cash register in both our Main Store and HSC store locations. Nearby Westdale offers a full service post office for mailing parcels and packages as well as a wide array of Canada Post services. .

5. Do you do custom orders for conferences, clubs or departments?

Yes we do. Crested@McMaster is a division of the Campus Store and is a full service promotional product distributor offering a large range of giftware, business gifts, clothing, accessories and more that can be custom imprinted. Crested@McMaster can customize almost any product with your logo or choose from a wide variety of in-stock McMaster logo'd products.

6. What if I don’t see the book that I’m looking for?

We can special order almost any title in print

7. Who do I talk to about a return?

Returns and exchanges are done at the window just outside our main entrance. Campus Store return policy.

8. Can I return software?

No. Software is non-refundable. Once you buy a piece of software or a licence it is yours for keeps.

9. Why can’t I return headphone and ear buds?

For hygienic reasons we cannot exchange earphones or headphones. Would you want to put some strangers used ear buds in your ears? Of course not... that’s gross.

10. I’ve lost my receipt. What do I do?

In order to do an exchange or refund you will need a receipt as proof of purchase same as any other store. We can search our system for your transaction receipt if your purchase was made using a card (student, debit or credit), however there is a $5 fee to look up EACH transaction. In order to look up a transaction, you must know the EXACT amount of the transaction, and the date of the transaction. It takes 24 hours (longer during Rush periods) to look up a transaction. For a receipt look up please fill out a request form (type directly on the form and then print) and bring it to the refund desk located in the store. Unfortunately we are unable to look up cash transactions as there are no identifying details related to this purchase.
