Raster images are composed of a fixed grid of pixels—when the resolution is too low, those individual pixels become visible, causing the image to look blurry or “blocky,” especially when enlarged.
Vector graphics are made of mathematical paths (points, lines, curves). They can be scaled up or down without losing quality—perfect for logos, text, and simple illustrations.
Raster graphics are made of pixels (tiny dots of color). At low resolution they can look blurry or pixelated when enlarged, so you need high-resolution files for print.
For best print results, raster images must be at least 300 PPI (pixels per inch) at the final print size. “300 PPI” means 300 pixels for every printed inch—this ensures crisp detail without visible pixelation.
Example: If your design will print at 10″×8″, your source image should be at least 3000 × 2400 pixels.
If you’re designing in Canva, use the Download menu and choose PDF Print as your format. This embeds vector‐like data and high-resolution images, giving us the best possible source for production.
